High above the Camas prairie, Charles Browning stands a survey’s the view below. On his arm is “Messiah” his male captive bred Golden Eagle.
Charles and I started corresponding with each other about our experiences hunting with eagles back in 1992. The following year I had decided to visit the US to meet Morlan Nelson and as Charles lived in the same state we hooked up and went hawking. Charles had a desire to train a golden to hunt the large sage grouse and I discussed this with another enlightened falconer. Both had witnessed a wild eagle burst out of the heavens and explode a grouse from a covey they had flushed. |
