American pointing dogs that work the high dessert country have to be tough, athletic and good game finders. Out there a dog has to cover miles of country before they even get a sniff of game, it is not for a lack of game, it is more that there is a hell of a lot of country to hide in. These dogs are essential for falconry, without them it would be almost impossible to find sufficient game to serve a falcon. This is a typical holiday type shot, a lazy morning in the sun out on the veranda, but it reminds me off two of the team that make the sport a success. |
